Hiemstra & Evenblij was a progressive design company located in Amsterdam, founded in 1934 by Niek Hiemstra and his brother in law. After Evenblij left the business in 1952 Hiemstra went on solo, changing the brand name to Hiemstra Evolux (a merger of ‘evolution’ and ‘light’). His designs were sold in quality department stores like ‘De Bijenkorf’ and the company still exists today as Lumiance BV
